Dr Vignesh is a specialist Colorectal and General Surgeon.
He received his medical degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand with Distinction in Surgery. He completed General Surgical training with Alfred Health, and in 2020, was awarded his PhD on personalised care of colorectal cancer at the University of Melbourne and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Dr Vignesh then completed two years of subspecialty training with the highly competitive colorectal training program (CSSANZ). He subsequently spent a further year as an Advanced Colorectal Oncology Fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, one of the most prestigious cancer centres in the world.
He is widely published and is actively involved with clinical and translational research. His clinical interests include organ preservation (non-operative management) for rectal cancer, young onset colorectal cancer and optimising early recovery after surgery (ERAS) strategies.
